‘Masking for it’

Todays I was really tired but hauled my butt to the pools anyway, and it was raining but lightly enough to still go outside.  For some reason I really dislike the indoor pool, I seem to find it harder to breathe in the warmer water.  Strange!

So far I have been having trouble with the goggles leaving nasty rings around my eyes and sometimes feeling like they’re sucking out my eyeballs, so today I bought a mask style pair of goggles as they don’t go around each eye.  It was worse. I must have exactly the wrong (or right) shaped face for them, but the suction was so bad that I had a headache by the end of it, which totally didn’t help my form.

Anyway, I won’t keep you in suspense, I had no major breakthroughs today, probably because I had no rest days and I slept terribly last night for some reason.  I did 5 lengths mixed strokes warm up, then 300m continuous backstroke (6 lengths) before I swallowed a bunch of water, haha, so no new backstroke records today.  Then 3 lengths freestyle, before the little swim squad who were training finished and I was the last person left outside.  The lifeguard was putting the cover over half the pool since it was almost closing time, so I thought I won’t be a dick I’ll just go inside.

So I then finished up inside for 6 25m lengths freestyle so I had done 6 “lengths” of freestyle all up. I mainly swim in the 50m pool so I like to think of that as a length, and the indoor pool is 25m so 2 indoor lengths = 1 outdoor length. So then I finished up with 10 indoor lengths or 5 lengths of freestyle one way and backstroke the other.

So all up, progress stays the same and I know swimming when I’m tired sucks! Hopefully some more progress next time.
